How we survived during our Kitchen Renovation

Last year we did our a full kitchen remodel, cabinets ripped out, floors and knocking out a wall to our living room.

I didn't want to eat out every day plus I work from home.  If you know a kitchen remodel can be costly I wanted to be money smart as much as possible.   We also knew we would need to stay in a hotel for 2 to 3 nights with a dog when they  were doing our floors.

We had 2 older teen boys, my husband and myself living here during the remodel.

here is what we did

  • First of all stock up on paper plates-the worst is having to clean dishes in the bathroom.
  • We moved our fridge to our living room section so we would be able to keep food in the house.
  • We put one of our folding tables next to it  so we could have any things we put our microwave, combination  toaster oven airfryer and  coffee pot.
  • Keep a stash of non-perishable snacks such as soups, condiments, and cereal. We got those easy mac and cheese cups not 100% healthy but this was short term.
  • Make some frozen meals -  I prepped several lasagna,  meatloafs
  • Stop and Shop has prepped meals plus we used those easy salad kits.
  • We ate sandwiches
  • We grilled 2-3 times per week as well
  • Keep essential items handy such as paper towels, garbage bags, dishcloths, dishwasher soap, paper cups and napkins, paper plates, and utensils.

If you are local to the South Shore

We used Almar Building & remodeling  in Hanover -absolutely professional. They might be a bit more but they were prompted professional and we had a no issues.  They work with subcontractors alot but kept them all organized.

We got our Cabinets from Cape Cod Lumber  in Abington who Almar works with. We chose Schrock cabinets the entra series

The designer was great as we really didn't know what we wanted.

We got our new appliances at George Toma a local store   as recommended by Cape Cod Lumber.  They had  upgrade your kitchen set  Fridge, Stove and over the counter microwave.   They were last year model
